This arrangement for vocal solo and piano accompaniment is ideal for baritone and soprano solo voices. I wanted the arrangement to include a key change and for the accompaniment to sound slightly different in each verse, yet tie it together with a haunting interlude. The final result is somewhat melancholic, but beautiful all the same, in order to add a sense of gravitas to the concept of Christ’s birth and what it means for the world.
