This piece is based on a musical setting of the poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, found in the LDS hymnal and commonly sung every New Year’s. Wikipedia has this to say about the poem: “According to a story widely held in Waltham Abbey, and repeated on many websites, the ‘wild bells’ in question were the bells of the Abbey Church. According to the story, Tennyson was staying at High Beach in the vicinity and heard the bells being rung.” The mood of this arrangement is somewhat reflective, but with a sense of pushing forward and embracing what is to come. Intermediate level, 4 pages. Performance time: approximately 4:15. Used by permission.
